Completed the course

Well the end of the college year has finally arrived, and to be honest the year has been worth it. All the effort I have put into the course has now payed off, the presentation was a success. As was the audio, video and animation elements. All were required for the presentation.

All I can say now is I can’t wait for the HNC to start in august.

Progress

Well its getting very near the end of my college course, that’s till next year when I start my HNC.
One week to be precise, now what have I to do still? Not a lot to be honest as I am up to date with everything, all has been handed in other than the presentation. That’s on my pen drive completed awaiting approval from the tutor. Passed the video assessment on Wednesday, was easy enough.
At this point in time I’m grateful for where I am and what I have achieved, so thanks to all that helped.

Two weeks left

Well there is only two weeks left of college and all has gone fine, passing all the assessments as expected. The web site for the presentation is just about complete, now includes the video with audio narrative, animation and general information and links. Just need to get the crossword completed and placed in the relevant page. Part from that there will be minor thing to attend too.
In other areas of the course I have submitted my audio, video, and still images assessments. So I can see the next two weeks being easy as all I have to do is corrections and build the second part of the presentation using PowerPoint.

Assessment

Well it’s getting very close to the end of the college year, the assessments are starting to appear and I’m passing them all. The big assessment this block is going superb too, it’s nearly finished, and the video, audio and animation are all complete. The video and animation are within the website so all is good.

Have just passed the word multiple choice so I'm feeling good about that too.

Assessments part two

The assessments are coming thick and fast again, and I seem to be passing them with much success as could be expected. As said I have placed the health and safety animation in the web page, it looks great. One less task to carry out on Thursday, leaving me more time to concentrate on other things, like making the web pages better for what they are meant to be. It has given me more time to think about the heading and colours. Hopefully this afternoon I will complete the video so its ready for the audio. That’s after I have taken the relevant photos in the still images class and edited them to the criteria

Nearly finished animation

I have now just about finished the animation for my assessment, that included the motion, and shape tweening required. I have now placed the play and stop button, so you can stop the flash movie half way through. All needs to be done now is tweak so I am completely happy with my animation, so next week I will be adding the animation to the webpage, that’s if I don’t end up doing it at home. So all is going well with the animation. Etc.

Next class is audio, at the point of adding my effects to the samples and finalising next week. Then I can write the report the week after. If all goes well I should have the resulting week free to do as I please and look forward to the HNC next year.

Update

Well its Wednesday, college is going fine. All the assessment are either starting or due to start soon. Am doing really well with that big presentation, as I have all the button for the web pages done I have been working on the quiz I am creating, that’s practically done to be honest, just need placed in my web page.

Storyboard is done for my animation, just need to start creating it. It going to be simple, but will end up being more complex. Have also recorded my first lot of audio samples for the audio class, the samples will be placed over the top of my video to create narration once they have had the various effects added.

Not much to post about the video other than the storyboard is complete and I’m due to start recording today.

Friday, 2 May 2008

One step further

Haven’t been doing all that much today, other than write up questions and answers for the multiple choice quiz. Once I had thought of enough questions I downloaded a free quiz maker, smart quiz I have created to be honest. Never thought it would be that easy.
Have finally finished the page headings and buttons for my assessment, lot of hard work and grafting, but I got there. All I have to do now is think about content for the pages, that won’t be hard as the quiz will take up one as will the flash animation I will be creating.

Will have to create a storyboard for the flash animation, gives me something to do over the weekend, or at least gather some final ideas, have this idea of running the text in from different angles, for example, one sentence comes in from the left, while the others come in from the right and top. While I will have a logo animation in the middle.
Will look great when I get it linked to the PowerPoint presentation I am creating in digital media for applications.

Am also up to date in the audio class, have finished the planning, risk assessment and storyboard. So yesterday I created myself a script and recorded the first run of narration for the video I will be making next week.

Will keep you informed of my progress.

Finished all work

Well it’s towards the end of the week now and college has gone fine. Nearing the end of the year when all the assessments start. Don’t currently have anything to do as I have completed all the work required, so I thought id post to my blog and keep you informed of anything new. The big assessment starts next week, not too bad as I have plenty of ideas on what I’m going to be doing, the plans are written for the audio side, while the overall plan is completed, with the video storyboard nearly finished.

Dreamweaver is great fun, so if you ever get the chance to use it like I have. Go for it.

Animation

With not being at college on Monday it has been a very short week, first today was working with animations again and completing the task from last week. That was to create a simple animation, logo, and advert about fire extinguishers.

To be honest it is looking great now it has the buttons and sound added, fairly getting used to using the layers and different features of flash.

Then once I completed the animation I got the chance to use Dreamweaver again, it’s getting very interesting and fun. And I’m looking forward to the HNC next year.

Have now completed the plan, storyboard and risk assessment for the audio class, that’s basically about what I’m going to record and what sound effects will be added.

Secret Missons

With being off college on Monday it has been a long weekend, so now I’m back. Starting with the social Software class, currently undertaking a secret mission we had to generate last week. My chosen mission was to collect 600 gold in 30 minutes using the word bump, managed the task ok, as for the big assessment I have managed to create a animated heading, so that’s looking pretty cool.

Wednesday, 16 April 2008

Web Pages

Tuesday was taken up with working some more on my web pages for the assessment, a little more working on the heading and buttons for the various pages. Have found myself to come up with some good ideas, ideas I feel make my web pages look professional.

Now I have the software on my computer I have developed the skills to create my own buttons, so this makes my web pages unique and different.

Have just been given today’s task in the Social Software class, seems easy enough, develop a task or mission for a fellow student to carry out.

So all is well so far.

Monday, 14 April 2008

Ideas and Success

Monday morning has gone very quickly to be honest, first I was working with Microsoft Visio, but this time creating flow charts and finishing off the office plans from last week. Next was to finish off my practical assessment for install and maintain computer software, was completed with ease, and now I have passed that particular part.

Over the past couple of days I have been creating some of the heading and buttons for the web page I have to create, I did this using fireworks and Photoshop, and founds I got some really good results.

Thursday, 10 April 2008

End of the week

Today I made another ecard in flash, was very interesting because I gave it a happy birthday theme. With the happy appearing from the left hand side, while the birthday appears from the right.
Then I designed my ecard in a way of a strawberry expanding while moving towards the centre of the ecard, giving it a zoom effect. Once the strawberry had moved to the middle I used a explode effect to reveal another word.

This ecard was done using motion tweening, found this way far easier.

I finished the day writing an evaluation report in the audio class about the recent task we had done, was 400 words and easy to be honest.

Wednesday, 9 April 2008

More hard work

All has gone well so far today, finally got to buy a housed on Gaia online. The task I am doing in the social software class, then I got to furnish it with loads of different things like a bed and sofa, can’t have a house without a bed and sofa can you. The digital still images class was working with filters so I could edit the photos in different ways to improve them, this involved applying effect to a statue, but leaving the background untouched, editing a photo to make it look like somebody’s eye are closed. I did this using the healing brush and liquify filter, currently in the video editing class creating a video about effects. For example zoom and lighting, the movie seems to be coming on well enough and is nearly finished.

Tuesday, 8 April 2008

The course so far

Well its now mid week of the first week back to college since the Easter holidays, to be honest at this stage there isn’t much to report about. Monday morning I started using Microsoft Visio, was interesting to be honest. Designing various things like office apartments and manager offices, wasn’t too hard, it’s good that I am learning new things each week. As for that big assessment, I have nearly finished the story board. Indicating where things will be in the presentation, so all is well at this stage.

Wednesday, 26 March 2008

Ideas move forward

Well the week has gone fine so far to be honest. The snow, gales and blizzards have gone, and yes I can finally go do something, rather than sit at home. When I have seen at home I have been concentrating on my ideas for the assessment, this includes what my flash movie will be for the web page and practice ideas for the crossword. Have also been doing some research about health, safety and computing. Something to put on my web page. The web page has to be linked with the presentation. So to make these ideas work I have created a draft page using Dreamweaver, this includes a flash image when you open the page. All the flash image needs now is the play, pause and stop buttons put in place.

Monday, 24 March 2008

The weather worsens

Well it’s the first day of the Easter holidays and I have nothing to do other than sit at home, due to this dreadful weather we in the north east are being hit with. So I thought I venture out and take a few pictures.
This picture was taken during blizzards, and you can see the top of the road.

When the weather changed again you could.

Friday, 21 March 2008

All CS3 versions apply

Now its Good Friday, it must be the start of the Easter holidays. What have I planned, not a lot to be honest, revise for the last part of the maths exam and have a play about with web premium.

With the web premium I want to start drawing and testing ideas for my assessment and see weather they will work or not. This will mean looking at other programs within the package, like Fireworks and Dreamweaver. Both could be very beneficial for bring out good results.

Soon be trading

Well I’m In the Social Software class investigating new things on Gaia online. It’s basically an online social site where you can earn gold points for selling and trading various objects, yet to buy or trade as I have just purchased the trade card that cost 500 pieces, so I am now making the money by playing games. One of the games is fishing, others games are puzzles and word making, these all earn you gold.

My favourite game at the moment has to be the puzzles as you can earn lots of gold depending on the difficulty of the puzzle, the highest gold score is 300 pieces.

If you visit various areas of towns you can pick up insects, these I believe can be used as bait for fishing, not forgetting they can be sold on.

The future

Monday morning and I’m thinking how quickly the college year is passing, April already. The college course will be finished around June and July time, then if all goes to plan I will start the HNC in August. Now that is something I am looking forward too, feel I have learnt so since returning to college last year. Am a whole lot more confident when it comes to working with computers, I feel if I was in employment and asked to create a database or spreadsheet it would no longer be a problem.

With the time going so quick, means thinking further than the HNC, where will I be and what will I be doing. Do I take employment or study on toward a Degree after the HNC?

Sunday, 16 March 2008

Farmers life

Well the weekend has gone fine, worked the nightshift, now at home doing some work on the computer. Not a lot of college work yet, the work load for block two is easier.

Farm work in demanding, I notice this when the farmer drives by each day.

Tracks mark their journey time

The farmer’s hard work pays off.

Saturday, 15 March 2008

One step further

The week has been superb, feel I am learning so many new things that will help me progress to the HNC. Monday was the easy day, took the theory assessment for spreadsheets and databases. I passed, so that made my day.

Later on in the day I had the usual, made a small video about health and safety in software for applications. The video was about how not to sit in a chair when using a computer. Maths was cancelled to make way for a lecture about risk assessment in the lecture theatre, Important, as I will have to carry out risk assessments as part of the assessment.

Social software on Wednesday consisted researching online chats room and how to use them safety. Edited some more photos in the still images class, one was placing a driver in a car using the path tool.

Find myself getting the hang of Photoshop now, and I finally finished the small video about the bee. Used Flash mostly to make the background movie, then added some sound effect and transcript.

Tuesday, 11 March 2008

Photoshop CS3 Practice

The software I was waiting for arrived yesterday, good shipping time to be honest. So now it was time to get a little practice using the skills I have learnt so far at college. And maybe a little browse, my first visit was Photoshop CS3. So while I was browsing I decided to edit a picture I had posted before.

As I am new to Photoshop CS3 I was going to keep it easy, so I decided to extend the trees in the background using the clone tool.

New ideas and stuff

Well the weekend has come to an end. Leaving me to refuel my concentration for college this week. It’s going to be a half and half, numeracy has been cancelled due to a health and safety lecture. So it only leaves two classes tomorrow, the first and third. Then it’s the lecture for one hour, could be interesting. Have said before, health and safety is important. Very much happy, as my new software has been dispatched. So it will be with me soon, I find this as the chance to test my ideas for the assessments, and then see if they work. Rather than find out later they don’t work and feel disappointed, at the end of the day this is the software I will be using later on in life as a web developer.

Friday, 7 March 2008

Bring good software to use

Well it’s the usual Friday and I’m off college, haven’t got much to do at the moment as most of the work towards the assessments hasn’t started yet. Now the bursary has come through, I spent some of the money wisely and bought some computer software. Web premium, includes Photoshop and flash CS3. Vey handy as it means I can have a play around, as well as complete college work away from college. Well it takes about 3 to 5 working days to arrive, so expect some edited picture to appear on my blog.

I must say I am very anxious for its arrival as it will substantially boost my college performance, and help prep me for next year’s HNC in multimedia web development.

Thursday, 6 March 2008

Easy week

I have now found that I am getting a little bit more confident using Flash and Photoshop CS3, considering at the start I hadn’t used the professional version. Have to say they are worth the money, got so many feature’s for carrying out different tasks. Have near enough completed the water pump task using flash, as for Photoshop, I started editing various pictures. One was to move a farmer behind a fence, with a little help I figured it out.

Audio today has been fairly simple, continue creating the audio radio show. I have now got the text of what is going to be recorded, so all that is left to do is find some sound effects. That I did, so all needs to be done is record and edit, then post to Duncan.

Monday, 3 March 2008

My plans coming to light

Has been a good weekend, other than work I have been concentrating on my presentation for the digital media, elements for applications. Have pretty much decided what I am going to be doing and how, one of my ideas is to use Flash to introduce the headings of health and safety. Then I read a book about flash for research purposes, basically to find out how to create a button to introduce the next page.

I am calling it a presentation because the general purpose would be to present the presentation to students who undertake the introductory level of computing.

So this is why the presentation would include a quiz to test the students, see what students know about health and safety. Health and safety is an important factor at the end of the day, and at the end there will be a small video as a run down to remind the students why health and safety is important.

Friday, 29 February 2008

When will it be summer?

The weather hasn’t been great all day to be honest, dull skies, wet and windy. Then coming to think of it today isn’t as windy as Tuesday.

This picture goes to show how the weather reflects this time of year.

Other than the usual weather, I came across this unusual looking thing while in an Aberdeen bar before Amy’s concert on Monday.

New skills

End of the college week and all has gone as planned, a college week I have enjoyed with the news of passing my numeracy assessment. All classes are going fine as planned, getting that little more experienced using flash, did some interesting things with it today. Created a water pump, so when you pressed play it would animate the pump of water. Other than the small test given I practiced using various methods, for example using transform options on the tool, at the end of the day it is more experience for me and something I will take for granted in the future as a wed developer. So what’s next, one will be more dedicated hard work towards achieving my goal of passing the course, then there’s the HNC, and the final is getting a good rewarding job in the computing industry.

Wednesday, 27 February 2008

The Usual Wednesday

Now at college in the social software class editing the Wiki, made it look a little more appealing to the reader by adding a couple of pictures and changing the font sizes. In the long run it will give you a rough idea of where the college class live, and how it varies.

Later on today I have the digital media still images class to where I hope I will be staring my portfolio and assignment, have a couple of ideas of what I am going to be doing, must say Photoshop CS3 is ace, you can do so much with it, for example cloning object within a photo. Cloned some stuff last week.

All will be finished with the digital media video editing class, where I will be continuing editing my video I was crating last week, before I can proceed I need to change the format so it will play in windows media player. One done it will be published on you tube to where you can see, when it is I will drop a link in my blog.

Tuesday, 26 February 2008

College and a great concert

Passed the first part of the numeracy yesterday, was a big thumbs up. Just have two more bits to pass and that is it completed. Other than the assessment, I did a little more work on my story board for elements for applications. Thinking of making a quiz and a spot the difference, regarding to the subject I have been given. That’s the all important health and safety, it will also have to include a video and audio. That shouldn’t be too hard.

Other than college, my main highlight was seeing Amy Macdonald live at the music hall, was great, and I mean great. Thumbs up to Amy for a great concert, my night was made even better when I got my CD signed. Thank you Amy for a great concert.

Monday, 25 February 2008

In need of software

With the weekend over I guess its back to college, currently thinking through whether I’m going to splash out and buy some adobe software, Adobe Creative suite 3 web premium costing around £245. Would be worth it though in the long run as it has Photoshop CS3 and Flash CS3, both applications I use at college. Then I will be able to carry out college work away from college, rather than rely completely on the college computers. Will be handy having the correct software on my computer.

Have a look for yourself. student software

Overcast

The weather today has been wet and miserable, didn’t stop me taking these pictures though.

Slightly overcast too.

Could get hail like we did earlier.

Sheep in the distance.

Pond full of water

Liked the light effect over the trees.

Flash CS3

It’s the early days of block 2 and all is well. Yesterday was interesting enough, given a task using flash. This was to create a rectangle and make it rotate, was easy enough. The tough task was creating a figure using the parts provided in the library, and then make it move across the screen using the frame by frame. Early days and still getting used to flash, must mention I have found it easier to use than first thought.

Digital media audio consisted of watching another video, then starting a task that will take 3 week. This task was to choose a story from a list given to use, then research the story and choose a chapter. Next week we will start making our own story, this will involve creating our own sounds. Could turn out to be very interesting indeed

Wednesday, 20 February 2008

Wiki progression

Well it’s Wednesday already and I am at college doing Social Software at the moment, currently editing the Wiki we created last week. My topic is college journeys, the group has put in an image and a few links to make it look more professional and interesting, who knows, there might be someone out there who doesn’t know were Aberdeen is. The Wiki page seems to be developing the way it should be, give it some more time and it should be something with a good source of information.

Tuesday, 19 February 2008

weeks flys bye

The week has been going fine so far with college. Didn’t do all that much in the Install and maintain computer software class, all I did was determined whether software was compatible, and discuss the copyright terms of software. Later was element for software, at this stage I thought and wrote down my ideas. Pleased too say I have a good idea to where I feel is the right direction for passing.

Will keep you informed.

Monday, 18 February 2008

Nothing to do yet

At the point of not knowing what to do, I’m meaning I have completed all the college work possible so far. So I haven’t got a class till 11am. That will be the Install and maintain computer software, so it runs through my mind of what we will be doing today. Will it be paperwork or maybe practical so I can take some pictures to post.

I am looking forward to the Digital media (elements for applications) class, this is so I can hopefully create my storyboard for the assessment. It will have to include the following things.

Text
Image
Animation
Movie
Sound
Interaction

So I would imagine this is going to be interesting to see what I come up with, would like to make it funny, but not so simple so I can text the knowledge of what people know about health and safety when involving a computer.

Sunday, 17 February 2008

My chosen HNC

With the weekend drawing to an end, I haven’t much really to say other than I applied for my HNC. I have chosen to do multimedia web development, this all depends on me passing the course I am doing at the moment, shouldn’t be a problem as block one was easy enough to handle. My decision to do Web development was helped with the past couple of weeks. There will be plenty to do, just think about taking your own pictures? Editing them in Photoshop and putting them on you website. The achievements stand for themselves. Adding to that you have the chance to add videos and audio, with the added perk of animations that interact with the user, so in a whole you have a quality website people would want to view and enjoy.

Friday, 15 February 2008

Using Flash CS3 Professional

College has gone fine this week with the opportunity of using Flash CS3 again yesterday. I did a few more tasks, but this time I used frames for creating my animation, basically I started with a single image and changed it slightly frame by frame, so for example I could have a stick man walking across the page. This was achieved by changing the stickman frame by frame, so for example I changed the positioning of the legs to make the stickman walk.

Then in the afternoon I did some audio editing. First the class was split into groups, then we were set the task to record a conversation about out selected category. Mine was about travelling to college, at this point we each recorded a sentence about our travel. Then uploaded the recording to blackboard for the group to edit individually.

More Photoshop

All seems to have gone to plan at college so far today, I am currently in the Digital media still images class and working with Photo shop, carrying out a few task. Today I am adjusting the colours of some pictures to make them look more professional. For example I have to change the colour of a building, leaving the building next to it as it was when I started the change. all good fun to be honest.

Hometown and travel to college

The day has started fine so far, the class has created a Wiki for everyone too see. The general topics are our travel to college and hometown, considering my hometown is in the middle of nowhere. Wasn’t much to say, but my memory served me well to help me create a good paragraph?

A new season nears

Has been a cracking day considering it is February.

So this picture reminded me how the season and activities of the farmers are changing .

Not bad for a mobile picture.

My progress so far

With the week ending and the weekend approaching I’m feeling relieved the week has gone to plan, have now wrote the review I had to write as a task for the Social Software. Just away to submit it to my tutor to see if he would read it and see what he thinks. Other than that I’m pleased with my college progress and looking forward to the up and coming weeks, with the first week of class overviews of what I will be doing and what’s expected of me to pass the course. I now look forward to next week when the proper work of passing the NC in Digital Media Studies will begin.

Thursday, 7 February 2008

The Fun Continues

Has been a very interesting day today, started off with interactive media for web development. This first involved a brief outline of the unit and what is required to pass the assessments later on in the block, then I got the chance to use Flash CS3, had a little play around to make small animations. Then came the real task, creating a storyboard for one animation that has to feature on a website, this animation has to include buttons to stop and start it.

With the brain storming over and the finalised storyboard I started developing my animation. With the idea of a clown like figure I decided the animation will include the removal of a hat the clown will be wearing at the start of the animation.

This afternoon was taken up in the Digital Media Audio Editing, being the first week of block two it involved some talking about the unit and assessments. Other than this I watched Duncan demonstrate how you can edit sound in small audio clips, then I watched a video about audio and how music was made using different sounds and techniques to get the sounds and effects, for example the original Doctor Who series theme tune, this was made by talented people at the BBC years ago.

Take a look at this

Block 2 continues

Well the day of college has ended and I must say I am really enjoying block 2, considering I have only been doing it for three days. so many new things to learn and do, this morning I was in Social Software, comprised of researching things to do with Social Software of course. Not forgeting the homework of reviewing a Social network site, mine is Wikipedia. Something to do and keep me focused on college. Next was Digital Still Image Editing, this was working with Photoshop CS3, got a small outline of whaT I was going to be doing, then carried out a small and simple task. All good for when it gets to the point of editing pictures. Last class of the day was Digital Video Editing, where I created a small video clip on how not to leave a computer, and how it should look. Great fun.

Tuesday, 5 February 2008

Block 2 has arrived

With it now approaching mid week I could happily say, everything has gone fine.
At last I started block 2 yesterday. First class was working with Microsoft PowerPoint, happy to say I have got the hang of PowerPoint. Good to see I am doing the Digital media, Elements for applications, this wasn’t hard at all, just gave me a brief idea of what element were. For example, what is Animations, audio and video? And how they can be used. I also was given the chance to learn about extensions like .doc and .mp3, this class will be very important if I chose to study web development next year as it will give me the skills of inserting media into a web site.

Passed the Software Development Practical

Completed the Software Development practical assessment with the result of a pass, I’m so chuffed to the extent I’m lost for words to describe how I feel this moment in time. All I need to do is a theory, that’s easy we are being told. Considering it was one of the subjects I was not sure about at the start, but anyway it got easier as I went along. And to pass Web Development as well keeps the gates open for my HNC in the summer. Anyway its block two next week, I can’t wait. So what it going to be, HNC in Web or Software Development?

Forecast Snow

Have been off college today as normal because I am up to date with my college work, so I thought i'd go into town. Deciding to go home, to my horror. I finally came to terms with the fact we might get the dreaded snow forecast this weekend, so when I got home I took a walk with the camera and took a couple of photos. To my disappointment it was too dark, but I managed to have a play about with one in Photoshop and add an effect.

This first photo has just been cropped with no editing, the light spots are snow flakes.

The next photo was cropped with some light added to make the trees more visible, the light dots are snow flakes.

Then I got a bit adventurous and gave the photo a twirl effect, think it made the photo look great with the light and twirl effect combined.

One of those days editing photos in Photoshop.

Good days work

Well it’s the end of an easy day at college, completed the spreadsheets assessment. Finally got to grips with the absolute cell reference that plagued me in this assessment, other than this I was finished for about 11.00am. Then there was the pc internet and communications assessment, couldn’t have gone better. Got 10 out of 15 and passed with ease. Just leaves the Software development assessment to be finished on Wednesday, so block one is basically finished.

Resulting week

Well its Monday morning and resulting week at college, sat here waiting to attend the first class and complete the spreadsheets assessment. Then later on I will sit the web blogs multiple choice assessment and hopefully pass, completing the day with the pc internet multiple choice assessment. So as it stands it will be an early day home to look over the notes for completing the software development assessment on Wednesday.

Everything is going to plan with the course as I am fulfilling my goal of completing block one as I planned.

Night of Xbox 360

Weekend is near the end and I have done nothing but studying for the last couple of assessments to be taken this week, went into work on Friday night and was told I had a bank holiday due, so I was off last night. As I wasn’t going to study the whole day yesterday I took some time out of the studying and played Call of Duty 4 on my Xbox 360.

As I have completed Call of Duty 4, I thought Id go back and play it again on the veteran difficulty, generates more of a challenge. Playing the game again also means I can achieve some achievements I haven’t got and find Intel I haven’t yet found in the game (In Call of Duty 4 you collect Intel to achieve an achievement).

Passed the web development fundamentals

Well it’s the usually Thursday at college with the little exception of the assessments. One in particular is the resit of web development. Better news is I passed this time, very much a relief as I wouldn’t know what to do with myself if I failed again. Other than the multiple choose I have finish the health and beauty completely now, with the report done and submitted, sketches drawn and project plan submitted.

This afternoon is the web blogs class where I have another multiple assessment, feeling confident I will pass.

Never knew how easy Software Development and assessments were

Wednesday, how has college been today and what have I done. First was finishing the spreadsheets assessment I started a couple of weeks ago, was absent last week so couldn’t finish it, Well it’s finished now and to my delight I passed it. On completing that I started the spreadsheets assessment that was joined with the database, finished the corrections for the database side this afternoon. They are basically four sheets of paper were you leave comment as you go and print off the correct evidence.

But my favourite was the software development assessment, after finishing the program last week it had to be edited today by adding certain things , for example a student take a test with a maximum mark of 20. I had to edit the program to only accept 0 to 20 marks, if the user entered 23 the program had to tell the user to re enter a number below 20. With success I got the program to work, so the next part of the assessment is to change the documentation and put in new screenshot as evidence the program works.
So in all I am impressed.

Talented Amy MacDonald

Well it’s nearly the end of January and I thought I’d write a small review about a musician’s music, one in particular is Amy MacDonald. You know the singer from Glasgow who sang at the Hogmanay party earlier this month. She has released her debut album This is The Life, released last year, and went to number one last week, but then was knocked off this week by Scouting for Girls.
I bought the album last year and have to say, there isn’t a song I dislike. It’s one of those albums I can listen to over and over again, it’s so relaxing. My most favourite has to be let’s start a Band. It starts soft then the vocals pick up towards the end of the track.
She’s first class and I like Amy’s music.

To get a taste of her music have a listen

This Is The Life

Everything else about Amy

The week ahead

Well I have just about finished my blog assessments, all I have to do now is review my own blog. Don’t think I will have much to do at college the morning other than more assessments, finish off the software development and spreadsheets assessments. Then it will be remediating my database assessment if needed, other than that I’m where I wanted to be at the start of the year. Up to date with all my assessments.

The follow on from Legend

Was shopping in Aberdeen last Thursday night when I noticed for the first time they are making another Tomb Raider game, Tomb Raider Underworld. Now I can’t wait as I have always been a fan of the Tomb Raiders. Good to see the areas have changed again with Lara taking a visit to countries like Australia and Rome in the game, game seems to be the same as legend, with a few other exceptions. Puzzles are not just a way of moving from one level to another, but a good way of upgrading weapons within the levels. Different parts of levels are interlocked with others, with this and the uses of mechanisms Lara can help unlock the global puzzle. Sure hope the makers of the game keep up the good work and make it one step better. As my most favourite to date has to be legend, could this game better it, I will have to wait and see.

Client impressed with website.

Well all seems to have gone fine this week with college, although I’m still needing to complete the spreadsheets assessment due to my absence on Wednesday. Other than that I have passed the computer systems assessment, only to miss the pass rate of 14 by two marks for web development today. Very disappointed with myself, but hey, can look forward as my client was very impressed with my website, to my relief it didn’t need any corrections. Great!! All I need to do now is complete the report.

Other than the web development assessment I am awaiting on the database assessment I completed today to be marked.

Course so far

Well it’s Tuesday and I’m at home writing to you about what’s running through my mind? College and assessments. Here writing away about things for the practical web blogs assessment. Have the 5 blog review much completed now, so it just leaves me to complete the last two weekly reviews. That should take seconds, then there’s the task of reviewing my own blog. Shouldn’t be too difficult as it’s kept up to date for passing the course.
Then there’s the letter I have been remediating for the communications class, just about completed and ready to email to the tutor for him to run over. Web development is just about completed, just to finalize the report and await the judgement of my web site and whether the health and beauty student liked it or not.
Software development is just assessments now as is computer systems and the pc internet class.
So block one is almost complete with all the assessments passed so far, so I’d say I’m going strong.

The all important job is out there waiting for me

Well now, its the end of a busy week. 3 weeks left of college, that includes the resulting week. And the assessments are hammering at the door most of next week and after, so im stuck here revising for them. They are, pc passport, computer systems(intermediate 2) software development theory and practical, web development and web blogs theory. But its all worth while as i know when i pass my college courses there is going to be a great job out there in the computing industry. Roll on that moment, what am i going to be? Web or software developer . maybe i might get that sports cars. Anyhow its now stuck in the back of my mind what im wanting to do after the HNC next year.

Again thank you to everyone who visits my blog.

Web development update

Thursday has arrived again and I should be finding out weather my web development client liked the website I created her, and weather there is any corrections to make. But there has been a small delay and I won’t be finding out till next week, after I finding out about the website I have the multiple choice questions assessment. That shouldn’t be difficult. Other than that I am currently writing up the report for my health and beauty assessment, so I’d better go and think of something to write for the technical specifications.

Nearing the half way mark

The first lesson today was taken up by carrying out corrections to my database assessment, to my relief I then passed. Since I have completed all the assessments for office and personal productivity applications I then resumed with the next spreadsheets assessment. Took me ten minutes to remember some of the look up functions, other than that, the assessment is going ok.
Software development was cancelled because the tutor was off, came in handy for revising and completing work needing done. Since I have had good attendance haven’t got any work to catch up on. So the lesson was used for the spreadsheets assessment.
This afternoon was easy as I was only there for one hour doing revision for the computer systems assessment next week, perk for completing the database assessment.

Roll on block two

Now Christmas is over, I am back at college to complete the first block of my college course. First class this morning was hardware and involved removing and replacing the motherboard of a computer. Was very interesting as It wasn’t something I have done before, just goes to show you learn new things every day. Currently in my spreadsheets class practicing the database part for the big assessment as the tutor is not well. Roll on block two when I get to do more exciting things like digital media and stuff.
